I'm planning on getting a mountain bike soon but I don't know to much about bikes. I wanted to know if anyone has a KHS 2001 FXT Comp and the Jamis Dakar Comp and how do you like them.

I like the style and parts (air shocks) of the KHS FXT Comp a little bit more but I can't find any reviews on them. which bike would you pick?

Well I just happen to have a Jamis Dakar Comp. It has air shocks front and rear. I bought it a few weeks ago and the first time I rode it was on a dh course a day before a dh race. The bike held up very nicely, wheels stayed true, fork and rear shock didnt have any problems. The only thing I didnt like about it was the tires. The day after the dh race was a xc race, and I found out that the tires rolled pretty slow.....i didnt like them. I now have a pair of Tioga slick tires on it, and its much faster. This bike isnt a full cross country race bike, its equally good at everything. -And- I could give you a deal on mine.
I was planning on selling it for $950 + shipping. There isnt anything wrong with it, and I havent changed any parts on it.
If your interested, you can either post here again or email me at ()()())()

Sorry, I think I gave you the impression that I didnt like the bike and I wanted to get rid of it. Its not that I dont like it, I just want to get a freeride bike instead, and I shouldent have bought this. Its a really nice bike, especially for the Price.

I'll have to say that's the first time I've seen a hammer used in that way. :D

The Jamis just got a great review in MBA in a shootout with 6 other bikes, granted it was a lower model than Klein's, but they felt it was a great all around bike and the value was phenomenol!

Just to let you know!

I'll have to check out that issue of mba. I went and test rode both those bikes and a specialized over the weekend along with a specialized. I like the Jamis and specialized the best.
