Road Cycling - bike purchase

Ok, let me hear everone's thoughts on the following bikes...pros, cons....etc....

1. Klein Quantum Race Triple
2. Trek 2200 Triple
3. Cannondale R900 SI Triple

Right now I'm leaning towards either the Klein or the Trek....please help me jump off the fence.....

It's fence.Flip a coin,but I like Kleins.Why a triple on a race bike? Train harder.

Two words, Colorado Rockies.........so, you would tend to side with the klein...hmmm...

I would also pick the Klein out of that group. I've owned a Klein mountain bike (Attitude Comp) since 1998, and it's a high quality machine. Also, with he Klein, you'll get the BEST paint job in the industry and internally routed cables for a very clean look.

Are you able to test ride them? If so, then go with the one that fits you best and just feels right. If they all feel and fit ok and all of the components on the bike are of comparable quality then go with the color you like best.

Any one of the three are good choices...but I would go with the Cannondale...because I'm partial to them that's what I ride. The Cannondale frame is stiff and accelerates quickly and I've found that I'm a much better climber on my Cannondale. A small warning the Cannondale can get a little rough on imperfect roads.

well, I'm leaning further away from the Cannondale because of it's headset.....from what I've been hearing, there are some future problems you could have from it's integrated headset....please tell me if these are false rumors....or if they might apply to some integrated headsets...or what....if anyone has any opinions on the whole integrated headset issue, let me know......Also, what do most people think about the cable routing on the Klein, any problems or anything?


FYI....This spring I purchased a Cannondale MTB and love it.....so I have nothing against Cannondale.....

I have had no problems with the Cannondale intergrated headset and mechanically I don't believe there are any issues with the intergrated headset. Prior to my purchase I also read about concerns with the headset, but if I remember correctly they were only issues with upgrade problems in the future. The intergarted headset is Cannondale's own design, thus your choices for upgrades would be limited.

Try all three bikes and chose the one whose ride you like the best. If they're all equal, go for looks.

Personally, I don't like Treks, but that just might be because there are so many of them, they've become the kleenex of road bikes. A buddy of mine has a 2001 2300 that he'd desperately like to sell -- he hates it. This is entirely subjective, but I know of people who love their Kleins and 'Dales; most people with Treks like or respect them... but they don't love them. [I'm thinking about the feeling I get when I get back from a ride on my Marinoni, and I think "god, I love that bike!"]

As for integrated headsets... well, they're probably here to stay. I don't really have much of an opinion on them, except that I've heard few complaints and I like the idea of having an easy-to-assemble headset...
