If you want a higher end model you can go to cyclocrossworld.com and get their empella frameset. From there you can build it up with their shimano component package.
Your best bet might be to just go to your LBS and see what they have to offer. Who knows maybe they will order one special for you. Also at your LBS you'll get a better fit as cyclocross bikes tend to fit differently. Good luck on your search.

Also, a few months ago I bought a Bianchi Axis Cyclocross bike. Really nice bike and components for the money.

Good luck with your search.

Yes, the Empellas are aluminum.

I ride a 2001 Major Jake [I'm actually in the process of upgrading the components]. Aside from some component down-spec, it has been an excellent bike. The Easton UltraLite frame is absolutely amazing. Most comfortable aluminum frame I've ever ridden. My main quibble is the fork, which is quite heavy.

The sites krazEkenzo and Dirtgrinder suggested are good starting points. I'd also suggest that you look at http://www.cyclo-cross.com/. It's a British site with a whole lot of information. Good luck.
