Hi everybody! I'm Platy, a 52 year old guy from Austin, Texas. I started riding as a kid on one of those 1960's two speed cruisers. I went everywhere (or at least lots of places in Lubbock TX) on that bike. It was my personal freedom machine. I've commuted by bike in the past and enjoyed it a lot.

I ditched my car for good a little over two years ago. It was an option because my kids are all grown now. Also I don't need to work at a job for the moment.

My bikes are an Electra Townie flatfoot city cruiser, and a KHS Cappuccino folder. I run my errands and get around in town on the cruiser. That works real well because all the buses here have bike racks. I got the folder so I could easily take it on trips out of town.

I envy your decision & ability to get around by bike only. Absolutely fabulous. Alas, as a construction electrician, I simply haul around too many tools. Welcome to the forums.

Howdy, Lonestar1! Looks like we're from the same part of the country. I think this summer is shaping up to be quite a scorcher around here.
