Well, over the past few weeks, I've noticed that my riding habits have dramatically increased. I now ride almost daily for at least 2 hours. Maybe I'm getting to obsessed?? :D

I've also noticed that since I'm riding so much that my hands are slowly becoming huge callus's even with gloves on.

-You know your riding to much if you have giant callus's for hands.... :D

I knew I was riding too much when one day in my car I was coming up to a pothole and tried to pull up on the steering wheel to hop over it.

I can't say this has ever happened to me, but it has provided one the most incredibly funny images in my brain. This is one of those "just start randomly laughing" thoughts if there ever was one. :roflmao:

When I am driving my car on the road and there are a few bumps I start to think about the air pressure(sp?) in the shocks and how much travel I have left.

That's so funny, man. :) Coz if you spent more time in car, you'd just drive over the potholes, right? That really brings a funny picture in my brain!

I ride 3-4 hours a day now because school is over! :) Cheers to anyone who has two months of riding. I get calluses on my hands, but they have turned hard and built up a few extra layers of skin to protect my hands.

My hands are covered in callouses as well. Its a biking thing. :)

Some people "clip out" of the accellerator pedal when they need to put their foot on the brake.

A buddy of mine plays college ball up at Tech and he says that A LOT of the guys piss on their hands, it makes them hard and tough. A couple of major leaguers, supposedly, do it as well. Anyone who plays without gloves, supposedly, pisses on their hands.

Not me, I worked construction, factory and weight lifted for years. I got calluses the old fashioned way. My granfather would likely beat me to a pulp if I got my calluses in that method...

Oh man - you're approaching it from the wrong angle. You've got to use them calloused hands to filter out those that wouldn't take it in the long run anyhow. Don't ever hide the fact that you're extremely into some sport. Most women immediately see through us brutes when we try to hide stuff from them. I swear they can smell it somehow :(

Plus - deep down, they do like it when we're not couch potatoes. If they don't, they're wierd and wouldn't ever understand why it is more important that you go out on your bike rather than mow the lawn (right now, mister!).

 Sorry but I'm not interested in dating the third shift at Waffle House (http://www.wafflehouse.com/)
We have a bad joke here in the Southern U.S "Q- What has eight (breasts*) and four teeth? A- Third Shift at Waffle House" that sums it up nicely

*obviously the clean version

I forget how horrible things are in the US, sometimes. Where I'm from (Sweden), you don't have to go for the third shift girls just because you're really into a sport and have some quirks from it. Any girl with a brain would understand that calloused hands = potential non-fat and non-lazy future husband. That's the Swedish equation at least :)

Seriously, things are different I suppose.

heh, the glass is always half-full I guess. What she wouldn't realize s that in order to get those calloused hands (at least from cycling) it requires hours of riding which is time where you are not with her and she is not the only thing on your mind. She wouldn't like that :)

I know I am riding to much (well you can realy NEVER ride toooo much :D ) when I jump out of bed, out of breath and trying to grab the tree branch to keep from going over a cliff. My wife always gets a kick out of that (some times literally ;) )

I have read that the old timers (baseball) used to soak their hands in bull urine to toughen them up.
