Mountain Biking - SCOTT Frame?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm thinking of retiring my steel MTB frame and buying a SCOTT. The dealer said he has one that weighs 2 kilos (about 4.4 lbs.). I'll be using it mainly as a road bike, with some uphills but not too steep. Do you guys think that kind of frame would do okay?

I still have a rather early Scott frame laying around that is doing just that (i.e. still handing around even though all other parts are thrown away) because if I'd ever need a bike for the same stuff that you say (but including snow/slush/ice for me), I'd use that frame again.
