Hi i've started biking and love doing the mountian trails. i am now owning a diamondbacksorrento. it's a lousy bike, but i've had it modded till only the frame and the seatpost and the tires remain original.

recently, i've upgraded my suspension to a pilot SL. i'm still on budget, so i couldnt really get a very good suspension. due to a freak accident, i had to replace my front vee brakes to mech disc brakes because there was a little problem with the vee brake mount. i fell in love with mech brakes immediately. however, i still have no inkling what's the difference between a mechanical and a hydraulic disc brake. may need a little help.

and my diamondback has got to go if i'm gonna change to disc brakes. ii'm look for a frame about USD300-400 budget. i could use some advice on a budget frame that does not weigh a ton. i've been looking at avalanche 1.0, trek 8500, kona kula. but i kinda not exactly like them. any suggestions?

i do hybrid biking, road/mountain, so i'm really seeking a good light frame.

thanks in advance!

mechanical brake is cable actuated
hydraulic use a fluid medium just like motorcycles and autos...pretty cool

I ride a Sorrento. I destroyed everthing on it, bought a $1,500.00 Planet X and decided I didn't like the Planet X frame. so I swapped out the frame for the Sorrento.

it rides great, fits me well and has taken some pretty serious abuse. I have V's on the back and they do fine for me. I don't ride in the rain too often and the disk brake up front works fine for when I do.

check out some of the mailorder places for cheap frames, I'd say....
