Training & Nutrition - Best things to fill up on before my time trial?

I have my first 25 mile time trial coming up this saturday. Im looking at it as for fun. However, I would like to compete with my buddy who is a solid road biker. I rode the route last weekend and had a gatoraide and a powerbar an hour before hand - and gatoraide during the ride - I felt good. Is there a better system that I should do? Do I need to start early this week with something. I drink lots of water during the week and I commute 20 miles a day, thinking that I should take friday off, maybe thursday. Any advice. thanks

I wish I could give you advice, but I don't race! :cry: I just commute all the time...
