This is just more of a discussion question, but does anyone remember the photo of girl in the seatpost section of the old Bikeology catalog? She was squatting wearing only a two-piece bikini with a seatpost between her hands, and the caption below her read "Remember to grease before insertion". I was only about 16 at the time, but with the all Campy equipment and her, it was my favorite magazine back then. Even now I can still picture her. I guess I must have probelms.

Alan Goldsmith was not original though, locate the old Playboy with the article on Eddy Merckx. I think it was soon after the hour record.

I was working for "Big Al" when he first steered Bikecology (now supergo.com) into the mail order business. Let's just say there were a few other memorable pictures in the first couple of catalogues. :) Of course, many readers claimed that they "just read the articles," which I wrote on topics such as rotating mass and wheel design.

That's cool. You must be the the one who taught me that an ounce off the wheel is worth two off the frame. Because of that advice, I saved up enough money and got my brother to build me a set of wheels with Super Champion Arc-en Ciel rims and Clement Seta Extras for my Masi. Every cent I had then went into my bike. Much better than drugs and alcohol.
