Mountain Biking - Downieville?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Trying to find a good place around me to go MTN biking. Was wondering if it is worth going up to Downieville and biking w/ a hardtail? From what i've heard it's more hardtail friendly then Northstar. I'm looking to do mainly just trail riding, no real technical downhill w/ huge drops and what not. I don't mind climbing as well...
Any input guys/gals?

I want to go to Downieville, too (I'm in Davis). Is there anywhere near EDH that's fun? There's Salmon Falls but it's kinda boring.
And I rode Northstar on a hardtail. It's kinda bumpy, but it's doable.

Near EDH no not really :( I'm either going to go to Northstar or Downieville, can't decide. I want to find out which one is more hardtail friendly. So you said it's do able? Which kinds of trails did you go down? what type of bike do you have? If you want to just PM me w/ any info about Northstar w/ a hardtail and what trails to/not go down that be sweet :)
