His name was Chester. And he was a cat. Chester lived with us about 6 yrs in three different homes. When he was just around atwo years old when I'd commut to work on bike in the early mornings he would actually try to follow, like a dog would. I'd have to stop and say."Chester! Go home!" What a cool cat.
But he became ill this weekend. And just got worse and worse and worse. One moment he's a silly bouncing kitten, and the next.....he's dead. They were spraying weeds on Friday here at my apartment. We're on the ground floor, so I wonder if he came in contact with the weed killer somehow?
Gosh I really am gonna miss him.
So long Chester.

You have my deepest sympathy for the loss of Chester. :(

Its amazing that we become so attached to an animal. I didn't want a cat or dog, I'm selfish and lazy.
I got sucked into taking a cat from a buddy " need to get rid of a few cats, moving to a smaller house"
The only cat he got rid of, was the one I took, nobody else wanted one.

I've had "Cool" for 3years now, and my boyfriend moved in last october with his daughters cat in tow.
Now I have 2 cats.
Their personalities are so opposite, "Cool" very passive and sweet. "Monkey" is younger, aggressive and a stubborn little *****.

I now talk to them as if they understand me, and I swear they talk back. :o Others in the house find this very amusing.
After lights out, I wander the house just to check on them(making sure Monkey is not being a ***** to Cool)
They are a part of the family. I'm not sure how I would feel if either of them was suddenly not here.

Again, you have my sympathy for the loss of your "Pal"

I'm sorry for you. We have been told that our little dog is terminal. We just keep her happy and comfortable and wait :(

- the amazing thing about pets is that they're not just members of the family, but also a great emergency food resource!

:-)

- just kidding! we have a 16-yr-old, 22-lb DSH named Nat... he's diabetic, so i have to do the twice-daily insulin injections... they're done right before his 2X daily food time (12-hrs apart WITHOUT FAIL)... he's such a good cat, that all i have to do is prep his bowl, then fix the hypodermic... he'll then stand 'at attention,' and wait for me to do the injection...

- yep, he's more like a dog than a cat, so i know how you feel about your loss - he'll be sorely missed because i've never met a cat like Nat...

Man, I can imagine how you feel. I never thought that I was a cat person until our cat, Zeo, just moved in with us. We had seen him around the neighborhood and one day, when I opened the door, he walked in and jumped up on the guest bed where he slept all afternoon.

We had some cat food and a litter box since one of my daughters and her cats had been visiting so we put them out and he promptly set up housekeeping. He is now my best buddy.

I'm sorry for your loss, I have 2 cats myself and sometimes think how much I'll miss them when they pass on (hopefully not for another 12-13 years, they're only 3 years old now).
