while checking the negative air pressure yesterday i noticed a little red rum on the valve. is this normal or is it a start of a problem? the fork is only about four months old.

if it's just a little bit then i doubt it's a problem. Just make sure you're not leaking air or oil (or both). Keep the fork clean and it should run great. If you're really worried, i'd take it back to where you bought since it's not even a year old yet and the warranty is still good. I've had 2 SID's now. The first one was the very first SID fork. I had a leak in it due to bad seals so i took it back and got a new one. The one i'm running now is a SID 100 and i've had it for a year now and have never had a problem w/ it at all. The air pressure never drops...even after a few months. I wouldn't worry if i were you (but there's no harm asking the place where you got it from since it probably cost you a pretty penny). Good luck.

thanks for your reply mashimaro. its not leaking air that i can tell the pressure seems to stay at its setting and there is no puddle of oil underneath the fork when it is sat for a couple of days so i think it will be fine. it came stock on the bike so when something else needs adjusting i will mention it to them then. thanks again for your help

no problem buddy, just make sure you keep the fork clean. Especially around the dust wiper (hopefully, you have boots). Happy riding.
