Mountain Biking - Fezzari Wiki

Anybody ever heard of this bike or the company? Don't know anything about it. Friend wants an entry level mountain bike.

i have learned that they are in fact KHS frames. the frame maker in Taiwan has the right to sell out frames after producing them for one year for KHS exclusively.

but they seem to be selling decent bikes... since they aren;t going to build it anyway I don't see any problems as long as the buyer is capable of building it properly.

I can agree with that for mild usage. If the user is capable of building his own bike and ensuring safety there is no reason someone, or some kid, can't use a wally bike to just mess around on. Just as long as the consequences are known if they try to use it on a real trail/jump etc...

I can hang XTR parts on a Next. Doesn't mean it's worth a damn.
Costco is not a bike shop. They don't have trained mechanics on site. They don't fit you to your bike nor do they offer any post sale service like tune ups.

Unless you get a damn good shop, that whole fit/right bike for you takes them a whole 30 seconds to asess you. I've listened dozens of times and all they do is basically the same as the Trek questionnaire. How much do you want to spend, where will you be riding, how tall are you. That's about it right there.

The tune up thing I don't know much about as I'm not sure what those included tune ups include. I thought all they did was adjust brake cable and derailleurs. As far as replacing broken stuff, that's extra and I'm not sure it would matter if you broke something whether you broke a bike you bought from them or not as to what they would charge.

On a positive note for Costco, their return policy is fantastic. Should you need to return the bike maybe a year down the road, they will honour your return. No LBS would do that.

No LBS would do that.Ahh the leeway that being a large corporation that sells in bulk gives you. Of course they'll take it back. They've sold hundreds more at quadruple markup. Take Sports Authority for example: last X-mas they sold a "msrp $450" bike for $150 and they STILL MADE MONEY! I can tell you that the markup is nowhere near that in a LBS and many shops really don't make a profit on bike sales. They make a small amount on accessories but the bulk of the business is repairs and believe me nobody's getting rich on that

What I meant by the return policy thing is that Costco will take anything a year later. Nobody else does that. Although I did expect better value from Costco on these bikes. Perhaps the KHS frames being rebranded doesn't result in that much savings.
