Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - I remember when.. (the death of the Pimp gold seat) The new Battery awards!!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Way back in 2003, this forum was a different place. Not good, not bad, not better, just different. We have some veteran posters here. For an idea of the humour, look at the banter between Superchivo (what happen to him?), 165, Shiek and my self.

Ahh yes. The old days.

And then more..

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=49869&page=2&pp=30&highlight=Battery+award

And as time went on..

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=71084&highlight=Battery+award

Yes yes. Anyway. I was (and still am) lamenting the death of my SDG Ventura TI and kevlar seat. It was vinyl with gold sparkles. Picture attached. About two weeks ago it died in a buzzed ride through coronado. Snap crackle. 14 miles home with a busted seat. SDG says they'll repair it for 30 dollars. I've opted to move on for now. But I do miss that seat. Why? Because I got an email from a friend (yes, I have a few) telling me that he thought he saw my bike down town locked up outside. But it didn't have my seat on it.

Sighh.

165 and I were commeserating about how things have changed here. Let not those who go before us be forgotten, as we do not forget to welcome those who are newly arrived. Remember, we're a family of sorts. And as they say at work. One team. One fight.

So, with that:

I nominate
Battery for old school calm guy: The Fixer.
Battery for keepin on charging: Lucklust.
Battery for most life changes: 165.
Battery for hardcore lifestyle: HereNT
Dual Battery for gone not forgotten: Superchivo and Shiek.
Battery for coolest Female: 165.
Battery for most changed: Mayo (from lurking story teller to community participant).
And a special battery for Joe: who runs this place and lets us all run amuk. Mostly anyway.

Are you kidding? Of course I don't! :p

SINGLESPEED MTB ALL THE WAY, BABY!!!!!!! :D

Actually, I have plans for my own urban fixie using Paragon sliding dropouts, Pacenti Slant6 lugs and a nice, pale creamy avocado colour paint jobbie, but that has to go on the back burner for now.

Live in your world, speak in mine. When I want to, I can spell. Based on the 2.5 minute connection window, I type as fast as possible, hoping to say as much as possible. My inane drivel has purpose. What that purpose is, I don't know.

Funny, I saw some burly guy walking around Dupont with a Black Sheep Hockey Club shirt today. That wasn't you was it Schiek? He was walking towards a delivery van.

Effin' hilarious. That was Lowell. At 6'6" and about 3 bills he's got a couple inches and 100 pounds on me. The shirt is one of a very small lot.

Working too hard. And lurking here from time to time. Got turned off from this place by some unintended negative interaction with one of the modettes.

. . .

So it looks like you're trying to cleanse your soul (bike shop job) before you sell it...

If you change your mind, send me a résumé.

I have a law job, for now, but i'm definitely going to keep that offer in mind. And i should be studying for the bar, not wasting my time selling bikes.
