Mountain Biking - Wheelie time

Sorry, but I could almost manual that far. If only I could get someone with a helmet came so we could film me wheelie-ing (sp). My friend and I both chat while we are wheelie-ing. Its kinda funny :p

With a 32t ring, I would probably be in 5th or 6th gear during a wheelie. Its perfect for a nice cruise wheelie.

my bike is set up 32-16 and i can wheelie at best a bit past 2 blocks

I don't wheelie or manual. I shoudl play more but once I got the wheelie down to 5 ft and the manual to the same, it turns into a show boat move. (although a manual in the rough stuff would be nice so I still practice it sometimes) I wheelie long enough to be 100% sure I can do wheelie drops, past that, I just stop.

Funny story. I was riding behind this guy who could manual everything, roughest sections longest time and damn smooth. He even manualled the whoops like the best bikerX guy around. We get to the bottom and I keep watching him (I love manuals) and the guy couldn't bunnyhop 6 inches. He wouldn't lift his rear wheel. On a bikecross course he kicked ass with speed but had no pop off the jumps. I finally figured out way.

Im with maelstrom, I dont really try to manual or wheelie anymore than i have to. I use it when i need to on the trails, but thats about it, i suppose i should mess around a bit more cause it does have some usues..

1) Yes, you should play more. Wheelieing around improves your balance and tunes you in to what effects even the most minor inputs can have on your bike control. It also gives you something to do when the terrain is flat and boring, as it sometimes gets on the way to or from the trail.

2) You say 'show boat' like it's a bad thing...just think how boring jumps would be if people did nothing but straight air after straight air. Get out there and practice. :D

I love manuals/wheelies.

someone once said, "show off..." to me as I started to manual down a section of trail. I didn't take offense, I wasn't doing it for anyone but myself. I ride the same weather I'm riding with someone or alone. they just feel good.:D

I can't view the video for some reason, but I remember your last ones, and I'm sure this one is a lot better.

I am currently working on a rockstar manual (no feet, one hand), but so far I can only get about 25 feet before I have to put my hand back on. :(

i'm with gastro on this even though it appears to have no apparent reason to do it, getting good and wheelies and manuals is all a matter of using your balance, and when you get good with balance your feel on your bike is much better, thats just how it worked for me.

Yeah I LOVE to wheelie, most of the time it is just for my pleasure, but on the commutes to work I wheelie accross intersections if traffic causes me to stop at the path before I cross, otherwise I just blast past....... But when I do wheelie accross the intersection I can feel the eyes on me... and me likes it
