How to record the tour...

Okay... I have comcast, with the DVR box... I notice they have cycling on here every morning from 5:30 to 8:30... and then it looks like it repeats it throughout the day. Now, won't some stages go longer? And unfortunately it doesn't look like I can set up a 'series' recording of it.... (grr) so I have to go in an set it to record every damn day. Also... anyone know how to pull video off one of those dvr's onto a computer (Mac) and burn to dvd?

Jakey, I'm sure there's a decoder somewhere, but it seems too much trouble than its worth, when you consider the lower costs of today's DVD recorders. The DVD recorders allow you to move directly to PC or MAC more easily. Keep in mind the DVD RAM units allow you to rewrite over the media as well.

TV only do the last few hours of most stages.

Some mountain stages will be live all day, TTs too.

i've researched extracting the files. it's a long involved process hacking the tivo (where you can break the box if you don't know what you're doing), transferring the files, finding software to decode the stream, then encoding the result to dvd format and writing to dvd-r.

unless you have tons of time and patience on your hands, it was recommended to just output to vcr. it ends up taking less time and headache.

i myself will watch what i can, wait for the dvd release, and pay the $80-$100 bones for a fully produced version. i just don't have the time like i used to to play around with hacks and strange software.

There are a bunch of these out there. This one says 30 FPS and i think you want it a little higher then that. I believe that 60 FPS is a really good rate that is what most computer monitors run at. But I forget what is supposedly the human perception level. Used to know from my gaming days but it is gone now. Anyways I would just go to an electronics store and pick one up. I might be doing that this week, but there are a bunch of other things that i will want if I go.

Feature Films run at 24FPS... Regular Television runs at 30FPS.... so I do not know why you would want 60FPS....

I threw a Tuner Card into my Computer last year, so I just can tape the stages as MPEG 2 files and burn them onto DVD's.
