Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Prospect Park Races on Thursday nights

Just a reminder to ya'll about Thursday nights races at prospect. Possible team races this week. Spread the word. The more the awesomer. We might even get some extras with all the people in town for CMWC. Could be a nice turnout.

how would team races work, just so that I can think about it all day?

We were thinking teams of 2 (Madison or just normal relay). We could also run multiple races tonight pending the turnout (2 lap, team, and maybe even a 4 lap) and everyone can throw in a dollar for the race(s) they want to participate in. How does that sound to everyone?

And once again I’ll be lacking a bike unless anyone wants to pay my Trackstar tab (it really isn’t that much).

madison in the pitch dark would be interesting. I'll be there to give my money to lightgraphs. It'll be my wedding present to him. We should get some out of town people on the forums to go, those that are here for worlds anyways.

That was hella hella hella fun. We did a relay race... two person teams four laps total.

when is your time frame in the morning? I'd have to be done by 8 at the latest.

the sun comes up crazy early right now. I used to ride 5am-7am, but I'm open to anything... I think being done by 7:30 or so is a good idea. We could do 6:15-7:45 or something like that... it depends on what you guys are up for.

the thing for me is that I can't do it more than 2 weekdays and 1 weekend day a week cuz I take turns getting up with my daughter.

I second the fight club feeling. This is getting to be the highlight of my week.

Enjoy the next two weeks without me. When I come back I'll be sportin' a new ride gifted by my wonderful TRACKSTAR teammates. Lighter and tighter.

Also: we are riding the PP loop for an hour and a half or so Monday morning at 7. Meet at the Grand Army Plaza entrace ready to go. I'm thinking that I'm going to shoot to do this for training on Mondays and Thursdays. It would be great to have enough people to do some paceline work and show up all the rich guys on $10k bikes that ride there in the morning. I'm a shine only person, though, so if it is more than spitting I'm not going to show.

i'm pretty sure i'm going to be going to PP earlier than you guys want, in an effort to squeeze in more than an hour of writing before work (6AM wakeup, finish by 7:00ish). 7am is not enough time for me to squeeze my stuff in. However, I'll probably stop and say hello when I'm finishing MY workout.

Anybody train at a civil hour?
I'm there daily around 10 a.m.

Just chiming in since I've only been lurking. Training ride thismorning was good for knocking off the rust (thanks for the incentive, all), tho' the amount of traffic the city has decided in its infinite wisdom to let into the park at 7:00 does seem to suggest that we start earlier next time. I'll try not to continue the tradition of showing up late, even if we do begin at 6:00 (as Tyler mentioned today).

We're going to go again in PP thursday morning at 6 ( so that we don't have to compete with traffic.) Riding this morning was great -- can't wait until Thu.

Tomorrow is Thursday…another night of PP races. 10pm Grand Army Plaza. Bring $2. Also, there will be a morning ride at PP starting at 6am also meeting at the Grand Army Plaza. My knee has been hurting the past few days so I might take it easy in the morning but anyone and everyone is welcome.

I've just been slogging through some hellist problems at work that will keep me up past 3. I might have to bag the morning ride (since it is in 3 hours.) If I do I hope you miss me. :)

What a race tonight! I wish I could have hung out more but I had to rush off and do some work. See you all Monday at CP... Tyler and I are going to do five laps around PP Monday morning at 6 also... you all oughtta come out -- we can grab espresso at Gorrilla after.

oh and to the guy who caught up most of 1000 feet at the end and almost won -- that was awesome. I can't imagine having that much juice at that point.

How have the last two weeks been? I got back yesterday, got on my bike and the first mile felt really awkward not to mention I was weezing like a pig for the entirety of the ride. I'm psyched for the races tomorrow night though. More relays I hope, but if you guys got something else going I'm down for whatever.

we did a relay and an indie race while you were gone. it was fun! I'm afraid that I'll need to see this slowness and wheezing in person to believe it.

There's been some talk of doing some sprints as well as a big race. I was thinking a round of 1k sprints with a timekeeper would either be really fun or really boring. Any thoughts on that as an idea? If we had the right number of riders we could do a tourney style elimination with all the sprints in pairs.

Maybe we don't need a complex second race though. It was just a thought.

Sprints might be fun. We’ll see what the general consensus is tomorrow night. I’ll try really hard to bring a stopwatch, paper and writing tool for the race (as I’ve been asked many times now). Be there or be square—and it isn’t hip to be square.
