View Full Version : ESPN Page 2 article on jerseys in TDF
Well, at least a sizeable chunk of the piece is about cycling jerseys, the rest is baseball. Gives some explanations as to why leader jerseys are the colour they are (i.e. why the yellow jersey is yellow). Could be b.s., but maybe not.

Nice, from my knowledge, he gets it pretty much all correct. Much better than OLN who told me in a promo a week or so ago that the wearer of the Green Jersey was the guy that won the stage the day before. That's just embarassing.
didn't know about the blue on white numbers. that's something else to look for. He didn't mention the red numbers for the most aggressive rider.
Yeah, there was no mention of the red number.

The article said white on blue. Seems that is what the most aggressive rider changed to in 2004. It is a bit off to say it goes to the rider who worked the hardest, but that is an error of detail, much better than the usual errors in such pieces.
I also don't think the Green or KOM points systems are that hard to understand. They are both pretty much like lots of other points for races scoring. Be it track, swimming or nascar. It is just different stages or hills have different points.
Now if he said it was difficult to understand how the climbs get rated that would be different.
Oh and best young rider has changed over the years. Some years it was best first time TDF rider.
There was no mention of national champion jerseys either, so I dropped them an email with a link to a pic of Thor Hushovd in last year's Tour.
