Why do so many people online use "bwahahaha" to indicate laughter? Or more specifically, why do they stick a "B" before "hahahaha"?

I've been paying attention to how I and other people laugh in real laugh, and none of the chuckles/giggles/guffaws/etc EVER sound like they start with a "B" sound. Can anyone explain this to me?

Definitely an over-the-top, cartoony evil laugh, as in B-movie Dracula flicks. The Simpsons probably use it a lot, too, as in Mr. Burns.

You've never heard me laugh then! I'm a bit "over-the-top" when it comes to laughing so I always throw that B in there and crank that ish up.

It's also a mocking sort of laugh. Sometimes used when something is not really funny but you want to throw it in that person's face. "Bwa ha ha, that was real friggin funny dude. Did you ever think of becoming a comic?"

Yes, to all those indicating it as indicative of a nefarious plan. I first noticed the practice when spending too much time at slashdot, a geek haven. Not that I'm a geek...
