Advocacy & Safety - You meet the strangest people..

On my ride today,I had a man pull up to me, and roll down his window. He was upset and screamed that he was going to "whip my ass". He said that I had thrown a engery drink bottle in his yard, and I wouldn't need to "ride my bicycle for exercise", that he was going to whup me. Then he drove away. On my return leg I pulled over at his mail box and waited for him. We had a nice talk, I assured him I was not the one that littered his beautiful yard. And I had nothing to throw away, all my two bottles are kept to refill with water, and or sports drink. I made a friend today. We some times miss opportunities when we move too fast.

that guy doesn't sound like any friend i would want. i mean, good for you for doing that. but i wouldn't be so quick to declare a hot head like that my friend. i expect better judgement from people.

#1: Unless he told you he saw the perp was a cyclist, I'd be willing to be that bottle came out of the cage of a person who drinks them just to get through the day, not for their intended purpose. I see that all the time, esp. at work when people don't get enough sleep. #2: I'm assuming that Road Runner's new friend calmed down a lot between the initial confrontation and their little chat. I'm glad it turned out the way it did. Speed is definitely not the key to an enjoyable existence....

I give you credit for keeping a cool head. If I had taken the time to wait outside his house for him to come home, it would be for an entirely different reason. . .

Now, go learn some street fighting tricks and be prepared, he might find another reason to yell at you.

I wish I could have such a cool head. Really impressive. I suppose after he drove away initially, you just mentally took a step back and said to yourself, "I bet he just has other issues in his life right now."

Whereas I would step back and say to myself, "Self, let's find out where he lives and blow up his car."
