I did a search on the forums and didn't find much of any info on these. Does anyone ride a HellBent Spitfire (or one of their older versions - thunderbolt or zephyr)???
What do you think of them, the company, etc.?
Thanks!

The Spitfire is a high end tadpole, on par with the Windcheetah Supersport.
Ricky had the business up for sale, but was remaining a consultant to the company.
Ricky is a regular poster over at BROL and an occaisional poster at ARBR.
There are several reviews and Spitfire owners who have posted the kudos over at BROL.

I'm new to the recumbent world... and honestly, I haven't used the internet much for bicycle related stuff. Could you tell me what is BROL and ARBR? Any links?
Thanks!

BROL- Bentrideronline, an online recumbent magazine with several recumbent forums.
access via Bentrideronline.com and the message Board. There is also about a 2-3 year old recumbent buyers guide.
Ricky and several Hellbent customers can be found on the trike forum over at Bentrideronline.
ARBR-Alt Rec Bicycles Recumbents, an unmoderated usnet recumbent newsgroup which unfortunatly due the unmoderated nature of the minor usenet beast has degenerated into off topic political rantings and trash talking insults generating more noise than recumbent discussion.
There is also a trike forum out on the usenet somewhere, and another small set of recumbent forums over at recumbents.com including a trike specific forum.

There is one sponsored by the International Human Powered Vehicle Association too:

As far as Hellbent it is like everyone else says: high end stuff. I have seen one of these at a recumbent rally. From just seeing it, it appears to be an extremely well built machine. What worries me, though, is that if the company is for sale, will parts still be available? After having bikes whose companies shut down, I know what it is like to be left in the lurch.
