The Germans will want to take this one.

I'm thinking a water boy... they're sick and tired of playing second fiddle to TMob's group of misfits. Who do they have that's good on breakaways?

Covering my arse, I will pick three Deutschlanders:
Rich
Voigt
Kessler

If it is rainy tomorrow, which it may be - then it's time for a break to succeed. Perhaps one of those three that you mention, gcastillo

Maybe, out of respect for the people of London, they will neutralize the stage.

While it won't be the most interesting stage and the weather will be horrible... I will be there at the end tomorrow cheering all of the racers on. The american boys in general, but I'm all for everybody having a good safe race. I am in Munich right now so I have to take a train to Karlsruhe in the morning. I would rather see a mountain stage, but other previous arrangements make those wishes impossible.
Maybe I will get lucky and one of the riders will be in the back of the pack and still happen to have a water bottle to toss into the crowd. I want to see the end because I figure it will be the most exciting to see a good sprint, but the quality of being towards the middle of the stage would be the better chance of getting hit by some tour souvenirs.

I'm so stoked about this stage, I can't fall asleep. It is anybody's for the taking, but I think Rich will seize the day for Deutschland. Er will Stadium sieben winnen.

Well, don't you think Vino would have won stage six if it wasn't for the fall of Mengin? Nothing Discovery could have done about that. Perhaps he will be able to do something smilar today...? And if not, what about one of the austrian guys?

Or maybe one of the Germans?
Like Wegmann?

Wegmann may have eight minutes now, but will that be enough? you know: .....When a stage of the Tour was last contested on German soil, the winner was Salvatore Commesso..... (www.letour.fr)

Say what you will about the guy but in a bunch sprint where it might be a bit dicey
Robbie is gonna be mixin it up.
he may be the next Mr consistency ala Zabel.
Of course he doesn't have Zabel's sense of decorum or history but . . .

Congrats to Robbie once again. Hope Boonen's back gets unbroken :)
Does anyone know of an online source for video/audio of post stage interviews on French TV? I'd love to hear these guys responding in French...

He's not only fast, though (McEwen). I think he won today also because of his toughness and courage. The final meters Bäckstedt looked stronger, but he slowed down for just a second right after the crash, to stay clear of trouble. Robbie McEwen slows down for nothing.

Magnus was coming around him, Just not soon enough.
Damn, It would have been nice to see the 210lb'r on the podium. He Looks like the Kergan from the movie "Highlander"
Magnus is the man! A big guy.... rides a Bianchi.... and has a way cool name :)
Too bad he lost the sprint :(

Ride of the day goes to every domestique who tried to give their man a leadout in the final 3-4 kilometers. A bit dicey, eh? Gotta love it. That's how a sprint finish should look. No 90 degree angles 700m from the finish.
i can't imagine magnus keeping with little rockets like mcEwen.
and also yeah, i think robbie's bike handling (what was he again, mtb? bmx?) has been a great asset to him as a sprinter.
i knew somebody in school who passed everybody on downhills on mtb rides and it's because he rode dirt bikes all his life. not a direct comparison but still....

Was it McEwen who pulled a wheelie on TV at the finish of the Alp d'Huez TT last year?

Cyclocross. It's served him well.

I seem to recall Robbie doing that but not sure what stage.
Floyd did the same at the end of one of the stages.

Race conditions: rainy, overcast, slippery roads.......and the Tour organizers "forgot" to do something about that railroad track intersecting the road at an angle. Is placing small non-slip ramps over the track so difficult? DOH!!!

I haven't seen the race, but Zabriskie was one of 5 or 6 not to finish with the peloton. Did he look like he was struggling out there today?
Z crashed again today. Probably double sore and stiff.

Yeah he did it as he crossed the line first. Victorious on the Alpe... who would have thought??
Or no wait... who was it that was in last place on GC for that stage? They said they wanted to be first at the top of the Alpe.

McEwen did that wheelie after putting in a very respectable time up d'Huez. He also did it with one or more cracked vertebrae (http://www.shutupandride.ca/articles/article_view.php?art_id=420) suffered in a crash earlier in last year's Tour. Love him or hate him, he's one tough dude.

...and a trackie
McEwen road BMX and track, now road. O'Grady and a few others still ride a few track events here and there.
He's done his bit for now, good showing, now bring on the mountains ! and more wheelies :)
bugger me, classic1 just pipped me at the post :)

But he wasn't a 'cross guy, which was my point.

I think It was good that we got a lot of overhead footage during the last 3km. I was finally able to show my wife how nutty it gets in there, with guys pushing each other around, and the constant fight to stay out of the wind, or move up, get a train going etc... I think they should show more of the helicopter shots.
