Mountain Biking - Air pressure

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. How much are you running? It's been awhile since I got on my MTB...Felt pretty slippery last weekend and I'd swear I usually run about 42 psi front and rear...Or was it 32 :) Anyway, How much do you weigh, what kind of terrain, etc..for your particular tire pressure?
Tire pressures are embossed on the side wall of the tire. It is best to use the higher number if you are riding on the roads --that is if it gives a choice, such as "Inflate to 40/65 pounds" If not, use the number listed for max pressure. If you are heavy, you could exceed this max by 5/10 pounds and still be OK.

Weight - 260
Street - 60psi (very rarely)
Single track/trails - 40 - 50 psi
Trials and tricks - 25 to 30
Depends on my days and what I feel like doing. As you can see I spend a lot of time with a pump and pressure gauge. :)

I'm about 165 pounds, ride XC-style stuff, and would prefer to run about 35-40 psi front, 40-45psi rear. However, when I get into rocks, this earns me pinch flats unless I have, say, 2.3" tires. And 2.3" tires have some clearance issues on the rear of my particular setup, not to mention that it's hard to find light XC tires of that size. So I end up more like 45-50 front, 50-55 rear if I use 2.1" tires.

My tires are nuts for grip. I used them through the winter. I run them at 80PSI all the time. Road, or XC. The label says 35-80 PSI. They are 2.1" in the front and 2.2 in the rear. I drop the pressure to 60 when its hot outside.

I have a pair of WTB Velociraptors that I run about 60 - 65 for most singletrack. I weight 225 to 230 and the trails are mostly dry with some rocks and roots.
If it's wet out, I'll drop pressure about 10 lbs.
Road, I pump them up to about 125! On my road bike of course!

Only 85 lbs ????!!!!!!
Heck, at only 85 you don't need tubes, just put the tires on the rim and ride! Just Kidding!
You could probably get away with as little as 30 psi and do alright!
Any less than that and the bike may feel too Squishy!

I ride 60 PSI on the road and 40 in the moutains
That seems to work the best for me.
