Use of language

Today I was talking with the grandmother of a friend of mine, she saw my bike and was talking about how it was back in the "old country" But she kept using a phrase that I think we should use when talking about biking VC. She kept talking about "driving a bike" And I think maybe that should be a language we should use when talking about VC, it might help convay to motorists that we are traffic also, if we talk about driving our bikes.

Any thoughts?

Germans say 'drive a bike' all the time because the verb 'fahren' is used for cars, bikes, and even for being a train passenger.

Ok I will admit I don't know German, but when she was saying "drive a bike" I thought it was a good idea to use that langauge.

She was very intersting, she also wanted to get her grandson (my friend) to start riding a bike.

I was reading this weird thing by a young German guy, on the net, describing how he started to develope schizophrenia, and his first symptoms was he felt manic and he was talking about driving and driving, to this one place to see this woman he fantasized liked him, then driving further.... and it finally clicked that he was talking about riding his bike! At least in Germany, you "drive" your "fahrrad".
