A college age kid on one of those "crotch rocket" types of motorcycles riding one handed & talking on a cell phone. While I'm sure that takes skill, I can't help but believe his luck will someday run out.

I could do that, except that I wear a lid. And my friends would be annoyed from the wind noise.

Yeah, it's not that hard, when you brake you use the rear and a little front, biggest problem is the wind noise. Not that it's recommended!!

Do you have experience riding street bikes? Locking up the rear brake on a crotch-rocket is a disaster. With that type of motorcycle, it's the front brake that gets used the most.

That's why you don't lock up the rear brake, brakes are not an ON/OFF thing, you feather it. If you have to do a panic stop or a quick stop at all with your fone in your hand you're kinda screwed because you need both hands on the bars to stabilize the bike while you brake.

Riding a crotch-rocket and relying on the rear brake only is just plain suicidal. For your family's sake, I hope your life insurance is paid-up.

I'm saying, when you're holding or carrying something and just kind of finessing along, you can plan ahead and just use the rear, not saying this is recommended, but geez you talk like crotch-rocket bikes are inherently unstable and they're not that bad.

Ah... the sportbike... I got a friend of mine at work with a spanking new 05' yamaha R1 (his 3rd R1 in 2 years) who does that all the time.
There's also ghost riding, getting OFF the motorcycle on the freeway, either hanging off the side or the back, riding on your shoes.
The lazy boy, leaning back with your feet up on the handle bars, head resting on the back seat.
The crucifixtion, standing up on the seat while you're riding.
The stand up wheelie, riding the back wheel and standing up like you're riding one of those kick scooters.
There's also ghost riding, getting OFF the motorcycle on the freeway, either hanging off the side or the back, riding on your shoes.

Have you people actually ridden a sport bike or are you just assuming all this from riding a bicycle?
No one is relying SOLELY on the rear brake. That's not what the dude is talking about.
Plus, say you're on the freeway and you're eating your burger and holding your drink in one hand and you need to bleed off 10-20mph for a turn, it's easier to use the rear brake than to take your hands off your food to use the front (hand) brake.

I can top that. Today I heard this guy coming up in traffic while walking in Georgetown. This guy rides a little 50 or 80 cc Honda minibike. He's bobbed his exhaust so that it's genuinely loud. When he went by I did a doubletake...his right arm was in a sling! :eek: He was riding the bike one-handed and had even gone so far as to move the throttle over to the left grip. And this was in the middle of downtown-type rush hour traffic! :eek: At least the above squid could drop his phone for a panic stop;there's no way this guy was going to get his arm clear of that sling.
FYI guys,70% of a motorcycle's stopping power is in the front brake(s).
