Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've got an old 1977 Schwinn Paramount with full Campy Record. The rear hub is also Record and it has a badly worn Regina Freewheel. eBay has plenty of good 5 speed freewheels, but how do I know what kind of threading I need? They frequently specify "English" and "French" threading in the item descriptions (didn't see any "Italian").
You probably have English threads (look for "BSC" on the freewheel or the hub). As you undoubtedly have guessed, you do not have French threads.
If you have Italian threads, you can convert to an English freewheel, but because the groove profile differs, you cannot switch back and forth between English and Italian threading without risking stripping the threads on your rear hub.

Thanks John. No such markings, but I think I'll take a gamble on the English threads.
Again, Thanks.
