Bicycle Mechanics - Could this be the "clunking" I hear/feel in the bb? (pic)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I noticed this on my ride this morning. Thought I might need an over haul on the bb, but maybe its loose? See the threading coming out a pinch there, could it be just that?

Looks to be loose. Check the races just to make sure you have no damage.

If you feel and hear a "clunking" in the bb (assuming you are sure thats where it is) then something is def wrong. Might wanna overhaul it just to be on the safe side. Tightening that bb cup might stop the problem, but if its clunking it is better to just check it out anyway to make sure the races arent damaged.
Replace the bearings (use 11 brand new loose 1/4" balls per side, irrespective of whether you now have caged bearings) while you are overhauling the BB, and inspect the spindle and the cups for damage. Mark the spindle so that when you reassemble the crankset you can move the crank arms to a new position relative to the spindle (four orientations are possible; it is best not to use the same one every time).
