I was wandering if I should buy now a '05 hardrock pro or wait & buy the '06 model.

When I was looking for a new bike, people told me generally one year difference isn't a big one if at all. Just because my bike was a 2004, and we were in March of 2005, they suggested I get it because I'd be saving quite a few bucks. Folks here told me only with like, 10 year spans are there any noticable differences in the technology of bicycles.

AKA - Unless there's a huge difference, there's no reason to wait. I bought my 2004 Giant when we were 3 months into 2005. :D Don't forget, a lot of people here are riding bikes dating back to the early 90s and won't let them go.

From what I've seen of the '06 models, I prefer the look of the '05's, but thats just personal taste.

I didn't plan this in my case, but it happened. The 05 model was out, but I found an 04 still in a bike shop. It was on a major discount because it was last year's model. A direct comparison yields absolutely no difference from the 04 to the 05 on the particular bike I ride... almost makes me wonder why they just didn't BS me and say it was a 2005. I wouldn't of known anyway!

Good advice.

Looks like the 06 models has a new frame that's probably a bit lighter (looks like the 05 Rockhopper frame)... anyway... I also prefer the matte paint job of the 05 models.

The components will probably be the same though on each model type.

Do yourself a favor and wait for the 06 if you are planning on the Hardrock Pro. It has a sweet black and white paint job, new Sram Shifters, Short Cage Deraileur, new frame style and Sun Single Track rims! The bike is striking to look at. I think it smokes the 05. It is speced out like the Rockhopper Comp Disc for a few hundred less. I have heard that the Pro won't be out until mid August. They have lots of 05 Pros left. If you want an 05 you may want to wait a little bit because Specialized will start to drop them quickly which means savings for you.
