I was walking back home from the grocery store and some girls in a car thought it'd be funny to throw some popping things behind me. I'm an extremely jumpy person so they got a bit of a show out of that one. I enjoy the festival, atmosphere, and spirit of Independence Day, but I detest stuff like this. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Those little things that make a little snap or pop? Those are harmless, I had like 50 of 'em go off in my pocket once, surprised the heck out of me but harmless.

I figured they were harmless, but it still surprised me and made me jump and yelp a bit. I'm just jumpy by nature and it seems like this kind of stuff comes out on the 4th more than any other time.

If it was the little twisted-paper pop caps, they're utterly harmless. My nine-year-olds were popping them by squeezing them under their thumbs last night.

Even Black Cats or the equivalent aren't going to hurt you if they're on the ground and you're standing up.

Sorry to hear that they did that to you, I know that they are harmless (I love those things) but you don't thought things at others unless the other person knows in advance, I got into a "fight" today with those things with 2 other people, but it was only in fun so that is ok, but to toss them at some one for no reason is wrong.
