BMX - Are diamondbacks any good.

I wanna start bmx racing. I work at a LBS, and the bmx bikes we sell are diamondback, giant, and felt. Do any of these companies make a good race bike? Thanks

if i were you, i would get the specialized s-works hemi frame and build yourself a bike.

i am guessing you get discounts on components too.

I'm sure you can do better than that by thumbing through the QBP or SBS catalogs for a frame and building one up. If you work at a bike shop, you shouldn't need to consider second-rate alternatives. ;)

I would definitely go with a specialized but my shop isnt a dealer. QBP sells khe. Are these any good? If so which model should I go with for a race bike. The three types of models they have are flatland, street, and dirt. Thanks.

Only Specialized dealers are allowed to sell anything Specialized, and Specialized can be real dicks, especially to their IBDs. Felt's always been one to pack major value into their road bikes, and they've recently put out a line of BMX bikes, looks like you get a fair amount of bike for a half decent price in the Sector Pro-X and XL. Might be worth looking into if your shop is a Felt dealer and you don't have the money/time/inclination to build one up right now.

Mosh is Giant and their bikes are good. If your at a store shouldnt you know this?

Mosh doesn't have a line of race bikes. Neither does Giant.

The Diamondback Reactor Pro comes with Truvativ/FSA kit, the only janky part of that is the ISIS splined euro BB which any reasonably heavy or aggressive rider will destroy pretty quick. But you can replace it when the bearings are toast with some Profiles and have what seems to be a pretty sick race bike.

well that may treat you bad, but that is a really good racing frame.

'Sides, there's far more bling out there than Specialized. Staats, Supercross, Crupi...to name a few.

My wife has the Felt Sector 24. I'm impressed by their bikes, as they seem to be well spec'd, and well thought out. The flat black paint isn't too bad either. Although I've seen DB at the track, I'm not aware of them having much presence is racing. If you're a roadie with some technical skills and any kind of sprint capabilities, you should be able to clean up at your local track on any bike.

I'll keep an eye out for Felt, then.

I dunno, a lot of the DB stuff is Truvativ and FSA. While not top-shelf kits, they're pretty reliable and good bang for the buck. Remains to be seen whether the rest of the bike holds up, but I'd imagine for someone just starting out racing neither would be a mistake.

out of those get a Felt, they arent that good but there better than giant and Diamonback...in most cases.



and Mosh no longer makes completes but GIANT OWNS MOSH, not the other way around...

Well, I guess that that shows how much you know, since Giant has had the old GT touring team under their wing (with Woody Itson at the helm) for at least the last three years, and Felt sponsors Scotty Cranmer.

Felt also makes MTBs. And seeing how Giant produces more bikes than any other company in the world, you really shouldn't be surprised.
