Track Cycling - Minneapolis/Blaine Velodrome?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm a newbie to track racing and I'll be moving to the Twin Cities for grad school and I was interested in the Blaine Velodrome.
Anyone here train/race there? What is it like? Are there many beginners?
When does the season begin/end? Since it looks like it is outdoors, I'm assuming that this Velo will be closed during winter.
Are there any indoor velodomes?
Thanks for any help.
The website for the Blaine velodrome is here: http://www.nscsports.com/velo/
I took the intro class and started racing there this year. It is outside, so the season goes into September and starts up again in May. There aren't a ton of people, so they are always looking for more. It seems like a lot of the people up there also do road racing, but they are getting more fixed-gear riders who are trying it out.

Thanks gilby.
I think I read that you are going to check out Marymoor?
I really missed Marymoor. What a supportive community. I'm the quiet sort, but the few people I met on open nights were friendly and patient with a newbie.
During the summer race season, you get quite an electric vibe at times.
I think you'll like the vibe at the NSC velodrome. It seems like they are so happy any time there is a new person who shows up--they made me feel very welcome.

I could say the same thing about the Marymoor folks.
You'll like it in Seattle. Tons of bikes around, tons of shops, big community.
