I think the rear disc wheel he was using looks a little heavy. That's got to be how Armstrong passed him in the opening time trial.

it's just joking K. I'm pretty sure Jan isn't reading this in his off hours, and it is just a sporting event. Can't take it serious every moment. It is indeed sophmoric

Plus the flywheel effect helps him put a nice smooth stream of power to the road - easier on tires!
