rear hub/freewheel probelem HELP

i just bought a generic hub on ebay (48 hole, unsealed, 14mm) i laced the spokes all up and i tryed putting my old dicta freewheel on it but it dont fit. are there different size freewheels? cause the treaded part of the hub is accualy larger then the threaded hole in the freewheel. the freewheel is stock from my 2005 haro F3 it is a 14T dicta freewheel.

There are two sizes of freewheels, one for larger (16t and larger, and the 15t AC Racing model), and one for smaller (14t and 15t, and the Odyssey 13t).

You'll typically only find the smaller standard on flip-flop hubs (which I seem to recall the F3 comes with). Regular freewheels and freewheel hubs are threaded 1.375" x 24 tpi...same as an ISO euro BB, incidentally.

o ok so i just need to buy a 15T+ freewheel? will i need to buy a new chain because of the added teeth?

Possibly. And a new sprocket if you want the same gear ratio.

Make SURE if you buy a 15t freewheel it's threaded for ISO 1.375" x 24 tpi. Most aren't, they're for the smaller side of that f/f hub (I believe 30mm x 1mm, not even close)

Right, a f/f hub is threaded on both sides. I guess Haro decided to ditch ISO altogether and go with the smaller standard so they could run the smaller, more popular sprockets up front.

As Beerman mentioned, the AC 888 is the only 15t that'll fit. Any 16t or above should work fine.

o ok i see now. dans comp has that freewheel, i see that it is splined witch is good. that is a high quality hub right? looks much better then dicta

No experience with it. Freewheels are cheap, you break 'em, you buy a new one.

The ACS Fatclaws Freewheel is a Good Freewheel to use if you are running a 1/8" or 3/16" chain

For the price of a new AC888 freewheel, you should be able to pick up a reasonable sealed second hand hub that's the right size. I have heard of people having problems with those freewheels.

The AC 888 is stupid in the first place, because to make a normal gear ratio with it, you need a 41 or 42-tooth sprocket, which very few companies sell.
