I just got a burley nomad trailer today, after reading a ton of reviews and seeing that many people are happy with them. I towed it home behind the new bike (with gears!) I got too, the used mtb is too big for me really, and too heavy/slow for me to feel good about it. Used mtb's, feh.
But back to the trailer - I just had a few odds and ends in it from the bike shop so not much of a load, but what a joy to ride with! Unless I looked back it was hard to tell it was there, in fact I was reminded it's there when I'd go around a leafy branch in the road but the trailer would clobber it, or the geek-flag would tag a low-hanging tree. It will hold two "banker's boxes" with ease, and still have room for a few things stuffed in the sides and tucked in the pockets. The weight limit is 100 lbs but people writing reviews of it say they exceed that at times and are OK.
The interesting thing was the reaction of drivers, I'd say most stayed a little further away to the right of me, some didn't even do that, but some act like the trailer's radioactive! They'll veer away to the right by an unreasonable amount, and one driver backed back up into a driveway they were getting ready to come out of. It was pretty funny, actually. I should consider putting radioactivity symbols on the side but apparently they're not necessary!
