and Lance awarded the win now that the greatest cyclist on earth has a minute on the closest possible rival. It is over. Lance wins!

If you don't like it then too bad.

He is the man. Maybe he will go for number 8 next year.

Good to hear from you, Sam. I agree, as much as I hate to say it, I'm looking forward to a post-Lance tour where the riders are more evenly matched. I'm also thinking maybe the apparent struggles he was having earlier in the season were an act, because he certainly seems on top of his game right now! The man is just too bad. (I am BOTH a cycling and Lance fan, by the way!)

Like Hincapie posting 56 seconds faster on stage 22? muahahahaha... that'd be funny...
Would he betray Lance like that?

Jeeze guys, it looks like you haven't seen too many tours in your days!!! You're coming across like rookie fans proclaiming a Super Bowl victory for (name your team) after only five games...and in good weather with few injuries. This is a long event. They haven't hit the mountain stages yet and there are plenty of them this year.

I normally don't waste time commenting on sports outcomes in various forums etc., but I get a little tired at myopic opinions expressed by individuals posessing as little information such as you're bleating of "The Lance Thing".

I, also, pull for Lance and want him to win. Rubbing thngs in the face of the other very...no, extremely, taleted and capable riders in the race however, especially prematurely as you are clearly doing, comes across only as shallow, unsportsmanlike American b...****.

Do you care how we are percieved as Americans in the world? If so, I would think that a bit of diplomacy in your commets would be in order, especially given the fact that individuals from many countries visit this forum. Cycling has been a worldwide sport for a long time. We Americans are relative newbies. Please don't demean or insult the efforts and commitment those outside of our country who have not only preserved the sport for all these years but also continue to compete...possibly much more effectively than you are able to give them credit for.

Again, for the record, I am an American who wants to see Lance pull off #7

By the way the first week has gone, I'd say we let the Fat Lady take her time and get a real good warm-up in her dressing room. She may not be making her entrance 'til late in the Final Act.

In other words, this one has a weird vibe to it.

The Chicago White Sox currently own the best record in baseball, 57-26, 11 games ahead of Minnesota. We should probably stop the major league baseball season as well, since it's obvious the White Sox are going to win the World Series this year.

Good thing for Lance that he is smarter than most of his fans. If Lance was thinking like this then the Tour would be all but over for him. And it would be an ending where he is not even on the podium.

If nothing else he could easily have been in what seemed to be the right place and had his tour end in a crash yesterday. And there is no perfect place to stay crash free unless you are willing to lose at least a minute in each stage.

no question at all, half his father's, half his aunt's.

If you think the winning rider overall in the TDF is the only reason to watch the race..ya don't know s*** from shinola.

As long as there are no devestating crashes, the tour is over. Lance is best athlete in the peleton. Of course we all know he is not the greatest cyclist ever, only the greatest Tour de France specialist ever. The greatest cyclist was Eddie Merckx. Won about 1/3 of every race he entered during his career...

Ah yes but the difference is the other baseball teams can hit and pitch and all the teams have form fluctuations.

I'm not for or against Lance, but he is a machine, and doesnt let variables such as crashes (always near the front) or form (prepares meticulously) influence the result.

He will win #7, it will be a great race for second, and next years tour will sensational. IMHO

Merckx only won five races (the Tour) or so. I think he was a world champion too, but so was Lance. At a younger age, too.

Yeah but that was when riders were much slower than they are now. Merckx wouldn't win a thing these days.

Would he betray Lance like that?Like the OLN documentary stated, George Hincapie has been by Lance's side for way too long to betray his partner. I must admit that today's stage (8) was so scary with Lance being alone that I almost wanted the TDF to be over as well (with LA winning of course)

well...i dunno, i think that LA definatley has a chance, but like it has bee said, who knows what will happen. Just becaue he is alwyas near the front, doesnt mean he cant crash......

KUDOS my friend, couldn't have said it better myself.

I lived in another country for about 10 years or so, and let me tell you, I'm proud to be an american but I also care and am worried how we are perceived in the rest of the world.
