Professional Cycling - Fantasy team?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

My team (http://www.performancebike.com/inform/fantasy/showroster.cfm?event_id=31&teamID=54342) over at Performance is still rockin' the fist page (ranked #31 for now). I'm 100 points back, though, so it's not looking so good. My reasoning for the team was: pick my overall winner (Lance) who happens to finish very well in stages, pick a top sprinter (Boonen, duh), pick a decent TT / overall guy (Rogers, big disappointment). Beyond that, I took Axel because, well, I thought he'd do well for the "money" it costs to put him on the team, and Zabriskie was an obvious bang-for-the-buck guy (paid off well!). The rest of the team is a fairly random choice of scrubs.
Anybody else playing? I'm still regeretting not finding a way to get Vino on my team.
You didn't put Lorenzo Bernucci on you team?!?!?!?!?! ARE YOU MAD?!?!?!?!
He's an obvious top gun.
jk
Goes to show you that every attack has potential

Yeah I didn't have enough time to research the scrubs. Lead out-men for sprinters are always a good choice if they cost you nothing (I imagine Bernucci is a lead-out guy for Petacchi? (sp?)). Pretty random choice of domestiques. One of them finished waaaay back today (or yesterday, forget -- Zampieri).
Other options I considered were Chris Horner, because he's cheap, motivated, and had good form recently and Flecha (because he has real stage-winning potential and has been solid all season). Flecha was too pricey for a taking a flyer on him so I stuck with Axel instead and I took Dave Z over Horner (good move, so far).
The scoring in that league seems to have glitches, Yesterday, I was about 75th out of 1100+ today I am 0 out of 209 but my point total would have me in 6th. My Team http://www.performancebike.com/inform/fantasy/showroster.cfm?Event_ID=31&TeamID=100383902

Nice team! I don't know the lesser-known sprinters well enough to have chosen as well as you (e.g. Davis and Forster). You're kicking butt and taking names, eh?
Kind of lucky I guess. I went over to velonews and the daily peloton and looked at riders that the teams were talking up and if they were cheap, I went with them. Other than that I went the same basic route you did. Lance, some sprinters Stewie, Cookie. (a bit of a disappointment so far) DZ, I thought he could win the ITT and some cheap climbers won may have a shot at stage hunting, Chris Horner, Koldo Gil.

How does the scoring work? How do you get points, by (sprinter, climber) points in the tour? by overall position?

Like any fantasy leauge, it has its own quirky rules (http://www.performancebike.com/inform/fantasy/fantasy.cfm). It looks like they haven't updated the scores in a while because Lance still has only 40 points, whereas he should really have at least 60 (20 + 20 for two 2nd places, 20 more for first grabbing the maillot jaune).
BTW, my team is officially getting pwned. DZ dropping out is a big hit on my long-term prospects too. Bah. It's fun to follow anyway... as long as they update the bleeping scores. Grrr.

Yeah any hopes of a high place have now been completely dashed -- Boonen AND DZ are out. C'est la vie! Now if I could only win something in the scratch-off contest...
