Does anyone out there produce/sell 27" track wheels, or do I have to build one myself?

Got an 80s frame and I'd rather keep 27"ers than put on smaller 700cs. And plus, this way, I figured I could just use an old 27"er for the front and only have to swap out the rear. Not a good reason?

Really? An ebay search yielded nothing, and I don't see anyone selling anything here in NYC. I guess if I knew some hardcore track riders, but I don't.
I'll try and post in the marketplace forum.
I also found that Harris cyclery/sheldon brown sell a rear for about 100 bucks.

anyhooo, i think el twe meant you can find plenty of 27" freehubs. And you certainly can. 27" trackhubs are prolly a pretty rare find.

Harris Cyclery has the wheels w/ track hubs for $100 bucks. They're good. I have one. It rolls nicely.

<sigh>I was afraid someone would throw this one at me. First I'm going to look into the Harris one. I'm having a hard enough time extracting a seized seatpost, removing and old crank and extricating a BMX freewheel. Too many projects, not enough focus. </sigh>
A wheel's going to get me focused. Must...roll!

i think bens bikes or nycbikes has them on eBay occasionally as well...though I have never worked with either of those dealers. I can recommend Harris wholeheartedly. THey got the goods.

27" trackhubs are prolly a pretty rare
maybe because they don't exist... what would a hub have to do with the size of the rim. you just use shorter or longer spokes (smack!)

Frankly, building a wheel is a lot less annoying than removing a stuck or damaged part. I rebuilt my 27" wheels into fixed gear with a truing stand on my lap and Sheldon Brown's site on the computer in front of me. I think it's a useful skill to have. You can always pay a shop $15 or whatever they charge...

Huh. Okay. Well then I'll think about doing it. Maybe I just need to take all these stuck parts into a shop and have them take care of that for me. I just don't have good leverage in my tiny apt (no bench vise er nuthin'.)

I completely rebuilt. I wanted to have a real fixed gear hub on the rear, so I got an IRO flip-flop. I got new spokes as well, DT swiss 14ga.
