Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Custom Cycling Caps and a brief introduction

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Thought the folks in the SS/FG forum might be interested in these.

I've been seeing these on ebay so I decided to buy one. Does anyone here have one of these caps? If so what are your thoughts about it? I should be getting mine by early next week, so if anyone is interested in more information, (fit, quality, additional pics, etc) let me know. Shaun sent me an email to say that there should be an on-line store in the near future and that custom orders will also be available.

Also if anyone is wondering who the heck I am (I notice mostly the same people post here all the time and everyone seems pretty familiar with each other), I am new and have only been a member for a few weeks. My name is Aaron and I am located in the not so lovely part of California known as the Central Valley, or Fresno to be more exact. I normally ride around on a Lemond Zurich I converted to a SS or on my regular old geared road bike._____________________<- Insert jeers and boos here :). Recently I picked up an early 80's faggin and instead of building another SS I decided to go the fixed route. I'm just waiting on a track cog and some handle bars and then it should be good to go. It won't be the prettiest set-up, but hopefully it will work. Anyways this forum seems really cool and I have been enjoying the wealth of information I am finding here.

I was going to bid on one of those. Then the price shot up to $35+ the last day. I liked what I saw though.

It seemes like the ones in size small/medium go for much cheaper than the L/XL. I'm hoping if he does an online store it will be easier to get one at a reasonable price. Trying to wait things out and bid at the last minute on ebay sucks.

I sent him an email with a custom order. We'll see what happens.

Hey, those look sweet. I'm enjoying the recent increase in 'recycle stuff' makers. I'm a dedicated dumpster diver, and am continuously baffled (and a little saddned) at the crazy stuff people throw away. Its cool to see it being put back into something useful.

peace,
sam

didn't/doesn't reload sell these?

The site says that they do. The one I got from Reload (b-day present) is from "Bonnie Heart Clyde." Similar idea, recycled from used wool work pants.

i bought a shaun deller hat and i'm not happy with it. it's stitched unevenly on top which results in a bad fit on the head an an unslightly lump where the stitching is connected. they're realy thin and don't have an integrated sweatband like the ones made by pace sportswear (the campag ones that're always on ebay). anyway, bottom line is if anybody wants it, i'll sell it cheap so pm me. (a picture of it is below, Size - small/ medium, Fits up to 22'' head circumfrence)

reload sells the ones that were at monstertrack, the wool ones. ive never actually tried one on myself and the dude seems impossible to get a hold of- any info on that or the hats themselves? all reload says about them is that they're "bob's hats"

on my regular old geared road bike._____________________<- Insert jeers and boos here :).

Don't worry about it a fair number of us do double time over in the road biking forum. Some people just don't admit to it as readily. We all share the same obsessive traits when it comes down to it, they just tend to have more money than we do.

Thanks delay. I'm not actually worried about being jeered and booed just trying to be a little sarcastic and possibly amusing. Although I guess if thought I would be I would have kept it a secret, that is until I was caught going down the road sporting 20 gears and clothes far tighter than I would normally wear in public.
