I purchased a Brooks Champion Flyer this summer and have about 300 miles on it. It has developed a slight squeak when I hit rough ground or if I get into some heavy peddling. It has been very dry in northern Illinois and most of my riding has been on fairly dusty trails. I’m about 210 but I would think it could stand up to my girth. Any suggestions for lubing, where, and with what? Or could it be something else?

Thanks

I suggest you use a Q-tip and put some Proofide on the area of the leather where the springs are. I mean on the understide of the saddle. I'm within 20 pounds of your weight and have ridden Flyers for about five years. I have several thousand miles on them and I don't think weight is a worry. Applying too much Proofide, or oil, or riding it while wet more a concern.

I ride a B67. It used to squeak until I put a bit of spray lube on the coil springs and on the saddle rails where the clamp attached. I put proofhide on the underside of the leather when it was new; but the squeak was the springs. You don't need alot of lube and watch for overspray, this should correct your problem. Happy riding!

We have two of them on our tandem and they sound a little like bed springs.
