Does your handlebars have something on them that causes the grips to be slippery?

Two-part epoxy would do the trick. 2.99 at your local kmart.

The downside to epoxy is, if you ever wanted to remove the handlebar grips, you'd first have to slice open the grips with a razor length wise, peel off what you can... and the rest, just belt sand it.

Get some new grips. Preferably lock ons.

My friend played a trick on me and gorilla glued mine on (he thought the glue would burn through the rubber like CA glue would). They dont budge any more. But when the time comes to get new grips, its going to be fun getting them off.

Hockey tape the bars then pvc pipe glue in the grips. Must be a cloth tape, the pvc glue cracks for removal.
Sometimes boiling rubber can help shrink\retain shape.

ODI hex out collar grips. Spend tha money.

Great googly moogly (http://www.eventsounds.com/wav/googly.wav)
Buy a can of spray paint My favorite for this task is Clear enamel
Spray the insides of both grips liberally
install grips
allow to dry OVERNIGHT

*Not for use on carbon bars. Get a set of ODI-Lock ons for those or maybe some of the new Tiogas

It's almost impossible to do it with an ODI. The 2.5mm allen bolts won't take the torque needed to crush CF. You'll strip them first (Just ask Hooligan)

Wd40, oddly enough. It actualy breaks down the grip slightly and gets really sticky.

I replaced the chrome ones with hardened black oxide steel ones. :D Do-able...well, I'll try not.
CF bars by summers end.
'tween you and me raiyn, the replacement hex bolts 2.5 are used by train hobbiests if you need some.

Naa I probably won't need them. I read instructions and know not to over tighten :D
I do have a few hobby shops around here and one of them is primarily a train store.

Here is an idea for everyone. HAND GRIP CEMENT! It works fantastic

Big deal....so you have to slice it off with a simple cut.

But that means every time you want to change brake levers or any modification at all, you replace grips.

I've heard the same thing about WD-40.. that it makes some plastics a bit tacky. It's not really a lubricant anyway, it's a water repellent and penetrant. Still, it does contain some oil, so it's probably not the best idea.

If your grips are slipping, it's most likely that there is some grease or oil between them and the bar. Did you put them on with some oily lube?

Try taking them off, and thoroughly washing them with soap and water (concentrate on the insides). Then wipe off the bars with rubbing alcohol until they are not oily at all.

Then, when everything is dry, reinstall the grips using rubbing alcohol as a 'lube'. Let them sit overnight..

Slipping should be fixed.

I do believe I would kick his ass. No one messes with my bike setup but me. This is what lockers are for in school.

Buy odi's. Great grips and you will never have this problem again.

Ah, i dont really care, it actually helped my bike. I dont like odi's becasue they dont have the flanges on the end. I can deal with regular grips.

Which end? Ruffians and Rogues can be had with or without the flange. The BMX models have a flange, the MTB do not.

I'm wrong so I'll change the subject

You mean the time that you took the piss out of me for talking about sealed unsealed pedals, but ended up saying this...

"Sealed Bearing" is no more an oxymoron than "sealed unsealed"

Here's the actual post Sparky

Dictionary definitions really don't apply, if they did sealed bearings would be an oxymoron.
While I agree that no bearing is truly hermetically sealed, bearings that have a rubber or plastic gaskets to prevent the entry of dirt are "sealed" bearings and it doesn't have to be a cartridge bearing to be "sealed"

"Sealed Bearing" is no more an oxymoron than "sealed unsealed"
More from the thread

I guess it depends on how you define sealed, As in "having a seal"
where I come from sealed pedals refer to ones that have cartridge bearings, unsealed are ones that use a cup and cone. Well that's totally wrong

well sealed, unsealed pedal. Err yeah OK Sparky  (http://www.eventsounds.com/wav/moron.wav)

Personally I'd avoid the unsealed Southgates, the sealing is a joke.Gee would that be because they're unsealed? :eek:http://img268.echo.cx/img268/5517/reagandoh0dh.gif

[/url]As in they HAVE NO SEALS?

unsealed

adj 1: not established or confirmed; "his doom is as yet unsealed" [syn: uncertain] [ant: sealed] 2: not closed or secured with or as if with a seal; "unsealed goods"; "the letter arrived unsealed" [ant: sealed]
