General Cycling Discussion - If I wasn't an honest man

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
If I wasn't an honest man, I could have easily walked off with a full ultegra grouped specialized allez today in my size. I was with the family and my wife wanted to stop at target and lo and behold there is a beautiful specialized parked out front, propped against a bike rack with no lock (I looked). If I would have been by myself I would have waited and chewed the owners butt. I hope it was there when they got out!!! Lock your bikes everyone is not nice like me!!!!

Yeah, unfortunately I'm only honest in days that end in 'Y'. I do hope the bike was still there for the owner when he returned, a bike like that is a mighty tempting offer for some people I"m sure. Even those with no knowledge of cycling could probably guess it was worth enough at pawn to take a chance on.

How many times have you heard people say, "But I only left it for a couple of minutes"?
It's all about Karma.. I ain't religious.. 6 years of Catholic school learned me good :) but I do believe in what comes around goes around...
Here is where you goofed... This was YOUR karma.. you were supposed to take the bike. The owner was a very bad man who cheats on his wife and beats his kids and used meth money to buy the bike... it was your's for the taking.

If you're that stupid, you deserve to get your bike stolen. I would've just brought the bike in with me. It's not like it takes up more space than a shopping cart. What an idiot.

More like everyone is not SMART like you. It could have been a setup, with cops or friend bubba sitting in a parked car waiting for somebody to snag it.

When I see this kind of thing, I always want to take the bike and leave a note in it's place that says, "Did I scare you? Your bike is around behind the building. Be careful, next time someone might not leave you a note."

Sure it wasn't a police "bait" bike? Kids do that sort of thing all the time here at the university, just like their other property. "But officer, I only left it there for an hour or so...."

One of my bikes got stolen in what seemed, literally, to be the blink of an eye. I was staring at it through the glass storefront of a store, turned to acknowledge my girlfriend's babbling, and when I turned back, it was gone. I don't think I took my eyes off it for more than 10 seconds. Had I not turned away, I would have actually been able to watch the thieves (they took both our bikes) take them.
