Nicolai makes some great MTB frames with a gearbox, cool stuff. Don't see too much to get excited about here. The OP needs to delete his ridiculously huge image if he can't resize it.

Why is it that I have a feeling that this frame is going to be insanely overpriced and feature no real benefits as far as strength or weight goes over a normal, "double-diamond hardtail" race frame?

So...three lightweight alloy chainrings or a gigantic, heavy, ugly BB. I'll take the chainrings. And lose the single pivot design, this is 2005, plzkthx.
Looks kinda like the I-Drive. Kinda. :)

Hey I like chainrings...I prefer a single and a 'few' gears. It's a gravity run bike for stuntmen.
Bet it's over 50 pounds built. The non Horst linkage system is probably that complex systems with more pivots and arms are prone stress and failure.
It's @ least got triangles..made of squares.
About the OP bike, the reg frame-
wasabiboys "similar to track ones. I dont think it is that good." made me want to post a monster.
Beermans right...the gussets aren't all computer designed, and for the money I WANT MORE.
GUSSET THE HELL OUTTA IT> don't care if they do anything.
I just hope that's chromoly.

It's made to compete in DH with the $70k Honda gearbox frame. It was never meant to be light either. Its forte' is shifting, and only shifting. Only time will tell how competitive the design is.
