Mountain Biking - Any experience with speedgoat Breakaway Derailleur Bolt?
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
This is related to an earlier thread I posted regarding my irreplaceable derailleur hanger. (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=119001)
Speedgoat is selling a replacement rear derailleur pivot bolt that is apparently designed to shear if/ when my rear derailluer is smacked hard.
the product (http://www.speedgoat.com/product.asp?part=47572&cat=130&brand=1)
Does anyone here have any experience with these things?

I used to have one years ago (made by Carmichael, I believe). I never broke it off, so unfortunately I can't testify to its effectiveness.
It's not like you have anything to lose. Your situation is exactly what it's designed for so I say do it

I had one on my road bike (made by control tech, I think) but like gastro, I thankfully never had the pleasure of testing it.
Well, since i can find no other option, i'm gonna do it. I'll let you all know if I end up testing it. ya know, just in case posterity is interested.
