General Cycling Discussion - Your Dream bike? Function Wise-Not Price

I was wondering what everybody's dream bike was. But oh no this isn't your typical dream bike thread. This is about your dream bike not because of price, but because of function. maybe you live on a massive stretch of flat land and own a screaming XC bike but a Downhill bike is out of the question because there are no downhills. So a downhill bike might be your dream bike. Or maybe you live in BC *wink wink* where being a roadie is nowhere near as cool as being a North Shore guy.

So what is everybody's dream bike because they can't justify its intended use?

For me personally, it's a folding bike. I just love them even though I have absolutely zero practical use right now for a folding bike.

An all round al mountain bike. 6inches of GOOD travel (front and back) with allthe benefits of FSR and a quality shock. The bike would also be 35 pounds and still solid. That would be gods gift to riders. It would be the ultimate do anything go anywhere bike. They are getting close, but the bike also has to be under 2500cdn :D

I was gonna say S-Works Enduro..Enough all mountin in it to take what i could throw at it, but still possible, at least in my opinion, to ride around on the local trails..Deff a S-works enduro for me, or any enduro..

you live in nyc.. your 1 hour, if that, from diablo. get out there and ride one day, you'll get into dh'ing really, really quick.

A fixed-gear track bike. They're awesome, but what would I do with it?

they are better than close. I have one. the Guzzler is 6" rear and easily could be up front if I switched fork from the 5"+ that came with it. almost no pedal bob on climbs and yet buttery smooth on the rocky descents of Massenutten mt.my bike is under 32 lbs, has a great rear shock and excellent front fork, has adjustable suspenion,a tough as nails component package, handles like a dream going up or down,fast or slow, and if memory serves is about 2100cdn
I found out that this bike can climb a 5 mile,1600' altitude gain of very rocky terrain and then come back down a descent that loses 1700' in 3 miles of also very rocky singletrack and not miss a beat I never bottomed out on any of the trail and never had a problem that was not rider induced. Hayes hfx-9s are awesome brakes too even with only 6" rotors. I never had a feeling of loss of power or control the whole way down. this was my first trip on this trail so I got no intentional air but got plenty as some of the rocks were as big as a pickup truck bed and my skills on a bike are less than perfect as the scrapes,bruises and black eye from a tree branch will attest to. I was going anywhere from 1mph to 40+mph on this ride and the bike was never a problem, nor were the Panaracer Cinders.they also blew me away that I got no flats or cuts at 25psi and Im 190lbs+ gear

I have my dream bike a Giant OCR touring frame set up with a Marzochi '29er fork, Avid disc brakes, FSA road triple (53/39/26), shock seatpost, WTB all terrainausaurus 700x32, and XT parts. A great all around bike that I could ride on the road, fire trails, and just plain cruising.

sounds a bit like my fluid but with an inch more travel and a bit lighter, heh.

my dream bike function-wise would be pretty much the same as mael's... with the exeption of the amount of travel. i'd want a bike like my fluid, 5x5, but with little lighter frame, better rear shock, but just as tough, if not tougher.

I live around extremley varied terrain. My dream bike wouuld be an extremley solid fully suspended full suspension downhill/freestyle mountain bike. huge suspension travel, hydraulic diks etc...

If they come down in price, than definately, that would be an option. If my bighit was 2 pounds lighter in the frame and had a 26" rear wheel I do think it would be my perfect bike.
