I'm using Shimano v-brakes, and I just bought new rims. When I apply the brakes they make a scraping sound against the rims, just like with the old rims. My brake pads aren't that worn out yet, and the guy at the LBS said there might be sand sticking to the pads, although I've tried wiping them with a wet cloth. Is that right? Should I just get new pads? The braking surface on my old rims had parts that were worn out pretty bad. Please help.
