Right now I am running a sub-par KHS rig that i bought off a friend and am finding that I am riding to hard for it. I was recently got back into biking and am looking for a good solid bike that can handle a lot of bumps. I am looking to spend around $800 for a hardtail. Any input would be great.

You can find a good bike for that price. Start checking out your LBS and take a couple of bikes for test rides. I work at a shop that sell Gary Fishers, and you can get a real nice Tassajara that's in your range. Giant makes a real good bike at a great price, so does Trek, Haro, K2, Kona, Specialized....the list goes on and on!

At that pricepoint, you start seeing what I would consider race-level components, the forks are adjustable and the bikes are relatively light!

With 800$ american you will be getting some great quality bikes. What type of riding do you do. Uphill downhill rough freeride. All of these factors can help decide a bike for you. :)
