so i take off my brake pads (felt like they were weak) and i find that the pads are shiny, how do you know when they are glazed and when they are just normal. and if they were glazed do i just have to lightly sand the pad or do i have to do the rotor too. thx

Did you try cleaning them with denatured alcohol first? If you need to sand just do the pads.

And I have wondered if I would need to use my emery board on the disc pads. Have some in my tool box for the vbrakes. I knew there was something I forgot to thank my exgirlfriend for.

Usually denatured alcohol will cure the problem without the need for disassembly and sanding. Try it first
