Road Cycling - Thinking about selling my Bianchi Talladaga -what is it worth?

Have a 53cm Talladaga with all Ultegra, carbon fork, 631 Reynolds, might sell it to a friend, purchased last year, still in excellent shape. What do you think would be a fair price range?

I dont know what is worth exactly($13-1400ish)...you could get quite a bit for it on Ebay...but for a friend...hmmmm

Im 5"10 and Im thinking it might be a touch on the small side, maybe 55 being better for size. During the sizing, the saddle had to be put all the way back and I purchased a longer stem, still have the original. I purchased it for around 1400 on sale.

Just looking at your bike (which looks sweet) and knowing your height, I think it is too small for you, unless you have unusually long legs and short torso.
Do you have a 120mm stem on there? It just looks like something like a 140mm stem would work better. A 55cm frame would probably fit you much better.

Would this Bianchi be comparable to my Talladaga? Is it older, better? Its a 55cm.

Yeah, it looks funny - but its locked in the store room next to my office. Only 5 people are in my building, but individuals come and go, I think the lock will deter anyone from thinking they might have a new ride coming their way

If you're 5'10'', I'd think you'd ride something bigger.

Is that a reflector on your super-aero, low spoke count rear wheel? Oh well, commuting requires certain compromises. Sweet bike... I really like celeste fade-to-gold paint.

Well, nikos, I'm batting about 0% in my responses to your questions, but here goes.

The classic rule of thumb for a steel bike that's several years old is 1/2 original retail, more or less based on condition. I'm guessing yours is a couple years old, and I'm not sure how shops depreciate Al (the 'dega is Al, isn't it?). Maybe 75% what you paid would be my guess. Any more is probably too close to a new bike.

Man, that's a lot of drop from your seat to your h-bars. And, yeah, the seat is pushed way back. I think you're really going to appreciate the larger frame. What's your inseam? I'm 5'6, 31" inseam, and ride a 55cm (c-t) frame, and no, it's not too large for me. All I'm saying is you might want to consider an even larger frame. That said, the concensus seems to be that top-tube length is a better size metric than seat tube. It comes down to "try before you buy," or at least make sure you have the option to return something that doesn't fit.

Im pretty sure the Talladega is the old name for this year's Vigorelli model. It is a Reynolds steel frame if thats the case. It looks identical to the Vigorelli I almost bought over my new Veloce.

if you can sell it to a friend\acquantance $900-$1000. otherwise $600-$800. Used bikes sell by year and high end bikes are hard to sell unless their a bargain. everyones looking for cheap. what the bike is worth new about $1200-$1400.

There is no real formula for bike worth.Too many variables. On any given day people who may be interestered in your bike will range from suckers to well informed cheapskates looking to snag a giveaway. You have a good looking,current bike. Post it on e-bay with a reserve you can live with.Use pictures and lots of good sales type hype. You will get maximum exposure ,can't loose and may even snag a sucker.
