On my '70 Superbe (where most of it's gone), and on some other 3-speeds I've seen grainy photos of, there's a beige, diamond-shaped decal at the top of the seat tube. I presume from the location it's got to do with the frame tubing -- Tru-Wel 20-30, etc.

Anybody have one of these intact that I could get a picture of?

My '74 has a very faded rectangular Raleigh 20-30 tubing decal. What you have is no doubt the decal that would tell the tubing type, but I can't help out with this one unfortunately.

I think this diamond-shaped decal would've been used prior to '72 when Raleigh bought Tru-Wel. After that they used the decal you describe. I'd thought the 3-speeds used the same shield-shaped, yellow Tru-Wel decal as the lightweights, but apparently not.

I have a '64 or '65 Raleigh Sports with a whitish, triangular 20-30 decal with Sir Walter on it over a shield-shaped background. I took a picture of it, and can send it on if it sounds like what you're hoping to find (heck I may send it to you anyway for the archives). Drop a line to let me know, and fill me in on your latest escapades.
