has anyone had any luck with removing soma decals? if so, in what manner?

i did a thread search, but had no luck. if there is already a thread please show me the way.

it's probably done the same way you remove any sort of decals that've been clearcoated on. use a small localized amount of the thinner of your choice in the area over and just around the edges of the decal until you get the clearcoat off and then use the standard razorblade or whathaveyou method to peel off the decal once it's been exposed. of course, once you've gotten the decal off, you'll probably want to spraycoat that area to give it another clearcoat.

I'm not sure you can do it. The area where they really cut costs on the Soma is the paint. Its super thin. I think if you tried to rub out the decals you'd most likely rub through the paint as well. I actually bought mine knowing that I hated the paint and intend to powder coat it asap. I guess its worth a shot if you're willing to take the risk.

Dude heat it up with a hair dryer and peel it slowly...works on the old schwinn I got!!!!!!!!!!!! Dont murder your paint!

what color rush do you have travsi? ive heard of people coloring in the decals on the black frame with a sharpie. im sure a paint marker would work better. youre on your own with the red or the green (wish they still made em).
yeah, soma's decals blow... its been said before but tis true-- the decals look like SoBe Tea designs. i just etaped my frame, im lazy.

wet sand the whole frame, and the decals will peel up eventually, this will make your paint stick 1000x better, too.
I did this with a green soma, brush painted and airbrushed it with one shot enamel. it looksa fantastic and holds up great.

thanks for the tips. since the stickers are under clear coat i guess sanding or paint thinner are the only real quality options.

i think for now i might just go for the ghetto tip from modmon.

My old KHS had the decals under the clear coat, but I was still able to remove them using a heat tool for embossing. Just be patient.
